9.9.08 Another reason why I'm not having kids in the near future

They cost a freakin fortune and they are SO sloppy! I spent the weekend in my hometown in Rhode Island for Shawn's 1st Birthday! Shawn is my cousin Nicole's baby and since I'm an only child, I soak it all in with him as Auntie Amanda. I swear, he's only 1, but my arms went LIMP after holding him for like an hour. Holy! The kid wouldn't stop pulling my hair... I just don't have the patience for that. I genuinely love kids ... but they are just NOT for me at this point in my life... at all.
So the party was a Sesame Street themed party and Elmo made a surpise appearance! After all was said and done, the tents were rented, the decorations were put up, the food was made, that party HAD to have cost close to $1,000! For a FIRST Birthday?! Ahh... yeah I am def not ready to go sharing my earnings with a baby... not $1,000 worth of birthday goodness, that's for sure.
And this mess! They had a special cake made for him to devour HEAD FIRST. What?!? I've NEVER seen parents ENCOURAGE anything like this before ... but here's proof that it happened! Who cleaned that baby up afterwards? Certainly not me. I was busy enjoying some Sangria! :)
What a cutie though, right? That's his new facial expression. He does it all the time! What a goof!
My word for the day ... SPENT! Although I had the whole weekend and Monday off, i'm still BEAT! Can't wait for my 2nd dose of the new 90210 tonight! Ahh the excitement!
BTW ... for those of you on style watch - I switched over the fall nail color over the weekend. I don't know if I jumped in too soon or not, but I just couldn't help myself. The darkness was calling me!
