The unexpected and untimely death of Heath Ledger has touched most people who have ever seen even one of his films. It was first discovered Tuesday that he had passed on.
At 3:35pm on Tuesday, Heath Ledger's housekeeper went into his room to notify him that a masseuse had arrived for their scheduled appointment. Upon entering the room, the masseuse and the housekeeper found Heath's naked body laying face down on the bed.
The complete details are fuzzy as to whether or not Ledger was dead when they found him. TMZ is reporting that Heath "had been dead for a while," but local reports in New York say his housekeeper found him in complete cardiac arrest.
There was also some speculation that the apartment where Heath Ledger was staying belonged to Mary-Kate Olsen, but she actually owns the entire building. Other speculation says Heath and Mary-Kate were an item at the time, but that has not been confirmed.
The Olsen twins, however, are tied to Ledger's death. Local reports also say that Heath's housekeeper called Ashley Olsen's bodyguard to come over as he is also an EMT. Ashley lives in Soho, just around the corner from where Heath died. Olsen's bodyguard arrived after the cops did, so he wasn't the one trying to revive the Australian actor. The NYPD moved Ledger's body to the floor and tried to resuscitate him.
Several people close to Ledger have come forward saying he had pnemonia when he died. Early reports said there were sleeping pills scattered around on the bed near his body, but the Ledger family says Heath did not kill himself. They told TMZ that "there is no evidence to support the buzz that he may have committed suicide."
Quickly after the story broke, fans and paparazzi headed to 421 Broome Street where the news was literally unfolding. It took several hours before rescue workers emerged with a black body bag containing the remains of Heath Ledger.
An autopsy took place on Wednesday and came back inconclusive. It will take about 10 days to get a toxicology report.
